Challah Bread #1

I made the first recipe for challah bread and unfortunately is was not as successful as I had expected it to be. I had actually made this recipe a few years ago and it turned out well, so I was surprised with the result this time. I think the problem was the eggs. I added the eggs, which were quite cold, to the dough and I think the low temperature of the eggs reduced the temperature of the whole mixture and killed the yeast. The dough did not rise as much as it was supposed to and when it came out of the oven it was not fluffy and airy as it should be but rather like a brick. I hope my second recipe turns out better as it did with my pita bread. I will be posting picture from challah bread #1 soon.
